Rat Terrier / Chihuahua / Mixed Dog

Libby the Dog needs a home

This girl has spent her life in many shelters before coming to us. Sadly due to her being shy she keeps getting overlooked. Libby is very energetic and loves to run and play. She is pretty fast, so she would be great on an agility course. She will need a fenced yard and be leashed if out in public. Miss Liberty is still a puppy and does love to chew things. We recommend getting her harder toys and treats to keep her busy. Libby has been known to swallow pieces of toys and has eaten many tennis balls and toys thus far. For this reason we recommend watching her with toys or anything you don't want her to chew on. Her entire life has been spent in a shelter, so this may have been her form of entertainment. She is timid and she runs scared of men. Libby will need time to adjust to any new person. She will run and hide but does open up after a few days. Do not corner her it makes matters worse. Getting her to trust you is the key, treats and getting on the ground to her level helps. Until she has adjusted to her new place for a few months she should not go out in public. She is skittish and will be afraid of the world outside. This can cause her to dart off if she gets free. Libby, despite being in shelters, has been a great dog she has not had any accidents indoors. Once she trusts you she is calm and just lays around the house or beside you. However she is still a pup and does run laps in the house depending on what her mood is. She has slept at night in a fold out playpen with a bed. She has been perfect, not made a peep all night. She is not really a barker unless she sees a man or gets scared. She gets along with my dogs and wants to run and play with them. However she gets a little too excited and runs them over, trying to get them to play. Not sure if she has been around cats or kids. Please consider adopting Miss Liberty who has never known what it is like to have a real home. Please share so she can find the home of her dreams. She was born in May 2017 and weighs 15#
